STATEMENT: Governor-Elect Jocelyn Benson Congratulates New House and Senate Leadership
LANSING, MI — Governor-elect Jocelyn Benson released the following statement on the outcomes of the Michigan House and Senate leadership elections:
“On Tuesday, the people of Michigan delivered a Democratic trifecta with commanding majorities in the House and Senate. With that comes a mandate to advance our shared priorities: lowering costs, raising wages, and making life better for Michiganders. Today, our historic Democratic majorities elected leaders who will help make good on those promises and advance our affordability agenda.
“Congratulations to the newly elected Speaker of the House Ranjeev Puri, Senate Majority Leader Darrin Camilleri, House Majority Floor Leader John Fitzgerald, and Senate Majority Floor Leader Kevin Hertel on their elections. These dynamic leaders reflect the new generation of energy, diversity, and history-making nature coming to Lansing. I look forward to working with them to deliver results to the people of Michigan.
“I also congratulate House Minority Leader Tom Kunse and Senate Minority Leader Roger Hauck. Together, we will work to serve all Michiganders.”
